The Beaver Dam in Sudbury is an impressive NHFL venue with a solid fan base of diehard followers dedicated to the great game of professional ice fantasy hockey. The sheer magnitude and awe-inspiring atmosphere that is evident anytime you watch a Squeezers game is palpable, and you definitely don't want to miss an opportunity to visit this NHFL arena located near the Bridge of Nations.

There are several ways to get to the arena, and the main highways that run right next to the Beaver Dam provide an easy way to enter and exit the facility without much hassle or wasted time in local traffic. Highway 80 or 55 are both good highways to use to travel to the Dam, and you’ll want to be absolutely sure to follow the signage from the highway that will guide you directly to the arena. Public transportation also is readily available, as the Sudbury Transit Dispatch, or STD, can take commuters both north or south from Squeezie Station, which is located right by the building itself.

The Dam has one of the nicer exteriors of any arena in the NHFL, providing an opportunity to acquire a deep appreciation of all of the fine engineering and construction that was undertaken to make the building so special. With a tremendous use of current technology, the Dam attracts people from all over the world to make the trek to northern Ontario to see the Beaver Squeezers play hockey in their home arena. While there’s not a lot in terms of places to eat or bars to stop in adjacent to the Dam, there is some beautiful scenery to enjoy while waiting to enter the arena.

Striking banners that bear the Squeezers sexy logo and colors await you in the concourse that runs throughout the arena. It houses some of the finest concession offerings you’ll find in the NHFL, and the Dam is able to provide these food and beverage options at a decent price, as well. Before the game, the I Gotta Have D Grille  serves up an excellent meal that allows for a quiet, relaxing atmosphere and good, hearty portions. With microbrews, mixed drinks, and fantastic tranditional Canadian platters, spending some time at 'The D' Grille at the Dam is definitely one aspect of this wondrous building that’s not to be missed.

There are several outside restaurant options as well if you’re looking for a good meal in the Sudbury area. One of the best restaurants to visit during your trip to Sudbury is Schmeldt Pizzeria. Serving both pizza and old-fashioned Italian food, Schmeldt's is the perfect place to kick off your Squeezers pregame celebration. With quality menu offerings and unbelievable prices, Schmeldts's stands out as one of the better dinner options in the Sudbury area. The Native Canadian is another prime location to visit if you are looking for the perfect way to unwind with a good meal and a tasty adult beverage. This pub-style location offers many different classics, and there are televisions and music throughout the establishment, which keeps the diverse crowd entertained.

The Dam Club is one of those cool nightspots that only heats up as the hours pass by. With some of the world's best DJs and great live music, the party never stops at The Dam Club. This nightclub is located in the heart of Sudbury, which provides an excellent setting for a night of drinking and clubbing. Another great bar/restaurant/ lounge combination is Beaver, which is one of the trendier nightclubs in the area. It’s an exceptional spot to unwind in after a Squeezers victory.

Science North in Sudbury is one of the signature points of interest that sets Sudbury apart from many other cities in the country. Here you’ll find hundreds of exhibits chronicling the innovations of science, whic have transformed our day to day activities in recent years. Even if you aren't into science and technology or the advances made in these fields over the past few years, a visit to Science North is sure to amaze you. If you’re looking to hit the links while in town, Idylwylde Golf Club & Country offers a distinct course cut into the Canadian Shield that will offer the novice and professional a welcome challenge. With a bevy of lakes in the background, this is one of the best places around to view the sights and sounds of the Sudbury area.

The Dam is just another testament to the forward kind of thinking that has been able to transform Sudbury into one of the nicest areas of the country. The beauty of the surrounding landscape is like few other places in the National Hockey Fantasy League, and there are multiple opportunities to witness what makes Sudbury special. As you make your way around the NHFL as part of your Frozen Pond Pilgrimage, be sure to keep Sudbury, the Dam, and the Beaver Squeezers in mind.
