2020
After securing a second-overall finish during the 2019-2020 season, the Original HC now has five first round byes over the franchises history - more than any other franchise (Toronto and Ancaster), but HC Haymos haven't captured a Fifty Mission Cup since 2016. Yet, the continued regular season success and rich history in hockey-crazed New Hamburg makes them the most valuable and profitable teams in the sport, now having taken that mantle from the Ancaster Villagers over each of the last two years. The club is owned by the Hayman family through HCH Sports and Entertainment, which owns several venues, including Luxemburg Gardens.
While topping the league in franchise valuation in 2020, not all was rosy for the HC. The loss in playoff revenue from what was promising to be another deep run to a Fifty Mission Cup led to a decrease in valuation of more than $60 million. HC Haymos set single franchise records for both revenue and operating income in 2019, and still had strong league-leading totals in 2020. However, the other league squads closed the gap, almost across the board, as the net value drop in both categories were unfortunately also league-leading for HC Haymos.
It's worth nothing that HC Haymos continues their impressive home arena sell-out streak, as they concluded the 2019-2020 season by never seeing attendance dip below 110% capacity.
2019
HC Haymos has taken over the mantle as the NHFL's most valuable franchise, surpassing the Ancaster Villagers and ending their reign at the top of the Forbes NHFL valuations over the past two season. The $1.730 billion value is a 6.75% increase over last years runner up valuation. HC Haymos generated $280 million in revenue, resulting in an operating income of nearly $107 million during 2019, leading the NHFL for the first time and earning more than any team in any fantasy sport has ever earned.
Luxemburg Gardens has continued to be the hottest ticket in the NHFL, as the maximum-capacity sell-out streak of the state-of-the-art facility has reached an astounding 62 weeks for HC Haymos, with no signs of slowing down as HC Haymos looks poised to compete for a playoff spot once again in 2020.
Scheduled to host the 2020 Hockey Day in Canada, HC Haymos' outreach to new generations of fans continues to be a franchise strength, which has helped The Lion to become an incredibly powerful brand. If further proof was needed: HC Haymos takes in more money from sponsors and for premium seating (suites and club seats) than any other NHFL team, and the development of the lands around Luxemburg Gardens in partnership with HC Haymos management, has driven revenues through the roof and allowed HC Haymos to take a leadership position within the greater New Hamburg area.
2018
Since the league started tracking attendance figures, the returns at the gate have held steady for HC Haymos - at the highest attainable number, sitting comfortably at 110% - driven by the tremendous recent success of the franchise: Fifty Mission Cup titles in 2016 and 2017, a first place finish in 2017 and a second place finish last season. A 5% boost for ticket prices has pushed gate revenues even higher in 2018, as HC Haymos led all NHFL franchises in revenue in 2018, and finished second in operating income, finishing as one of two NHFL franchises to break the $100 million barrier (a sizable increase of $9.1 million over their 2017 operating income value).
As the on-ice success drives the turnout at the gates, investors continue to look to the HC Haymos brand as one of the most trustworthy in the NHFL.
HC Haymos'ownership - HCH Sports & Entertainment - has broken ground on the first phase of a 1,000-unit residential development and a destination entertainment venue. Despite the slow-moving development plans, the recent success of the HC Haymos franchise is driving local real estate and development initiatives. These additions to the areas surrounding Luxemburg Gardens will help the strengthen the HC Haymos brand - already one of the best in the NHFL.
2017
HC Haymos captured their second consecutive Fifty Mission Cup in 2017 and second overall. Meanwhile, the team's real estate project surrounding Luxemburg Gardens is moving along at a snail's pace. In November, HC Haymos narrowly won a bid to get more time to redevelop the former Civic Arena site but the battle may not be over. In a 3-2 vote, the New Hamburg Urban Redevelopment Authority board approved a deal to give the team another year, until Oct. 2025, to complete the lower Wilmot District development. Several new conditions were attached to the new deal, including HC Haymos relinquishing a share of parking revenue. HC Haymos is set to embark on the first phase of a 1,000-unit residential development and a destination entertainment venue. Despite the slow-moving development plans, HC Haymos can boast about having a very successful 2017 at the gates: the team sold out every seat and standing-room only ticket over this year.
